Greener would develop and implement a community forestry with recycling program that engages citizens in opportunities to learn skills and knowledge, and to apply these in a realistic setting creating attraction for the public.
Key elements of Greener Earth are recycling and sustainability. Sustainability is a state of mind and way of life. Incorporating sustainability principles, concepts and approaches in both formal and informal education processes will help institutionalize these concepts. Oregon is serious about recycling. Its residents are accustomed to dutifully separating milk cartons, yogurt containers, cereal boxes and kombucha bottles from their trash to divert them from the landfill. But this year, because of a far-reaching rule change in China, some of the recyclables are ending up in the local dump anyway. Most people including CWC believe recycle has positive outcomes; Community Wellness Center would like to create solutions to our recycling problems with innovation policies and products. The first step is to see though education if we can engage Oregon City residences near the nonprofit headquarters to limit recycling contamination by separating “#2” and “#5”plastics. Holding workshops Oregon City residents will be invited to workshops turning recycled products into innovative materials like wood lumber combinations
