These prototypes are NIH approved with the Face Shield.
Other tests ran for Face Shield:
• Donning and Doffing device – 10 times without breakage.
• Water Splash test – to ensure that the device stayed in place during spray.
• Wearability Test, or, for lack of a better word, “shake test”: Shaking head “Yes” and “No” while standing and while bent over a patient without the shield falling off
Surgical Spirits Spray
Surgical spirit is mostly made up of alcohol ethanol. Ethanol has been shown to kill coronaviruses in as little as 30 seconds. Like bleach, the alcohol destroys the protein and RNA that the virus is made up of. Moisten a cloth with some neat surgical spirit and rub it over a surface. This will evaporate and you will not need to wipe it off.
Hand Sanitizer
The main ingredient in hand sanitizers that will kill SARS-CoV-2 is ethanol, the alcohol in the surgical spirit. But its concentration in the sanitizer is very important –- it has to be over 70 % or it will not kill the virus effectively. Our hand sanitizer will have ethanol level of 95-99%
